Check the strength of the clutch grip: This check is as important as the clearance check, because the heavy grip operation will affect the operation and even cause accidents. The grip is heavy due to lack of grease or damage to the cable. The former is more common, check with the help of tools. Pulling the clutch grip with a spring balance, the pulling force of 50n-60n is normal. If it exceeds 68.8n, the grip can be considered heavy, and the cause should be investigated and eliminated.
Check if the clutch is slipping: change the gear through the foot pedal, at the same time increase the engine speed slightly, and then use the foot to brake the rear wheel, then slowly release the clutch grip, if the engine is off, the clutch does not slip, the technical condition is normal ; If the engine speed drops, but does not turn off, or the throttle is suddenly increased while driving and the vehicle speed does not go up, it indicates that the clutch is slipping and should be repaired.
Check whether the clutch is completely disengaged: lift the car ladder, unscrew the clutch handle, and perform a gear shift test. If you hold the grip tightly and there is gear hitting sound when shifting, it means that the clutch is not completely disengaged.
Check whether the cable from the clutch grip to the transmission is normal: if it is found that the plastic skin is cracked, it can be wrapped tightly with tape to prevent water immersion. The cable damage is related to the technical status of the motorcycle itself, so the maintenance of the motorcycle should be done well.
Clutch adjustment
Adjustment of clutch grip stroke: If the clutch end stroke does not meet the requirements, you can loosen the lock nut at the root of the grip and turn the adjusting nut left and right to make the grip end stroke 15mm-20mm. If you change the cable, you should pay attention to the different directions of the cable of various models. After installing, you must turn the handlebar to the left and right to adjust the free stroke of the grip.
Clutch clearance adjustment: Generally, it is sufficient to turn the grip adjustment nut. It is better to check and adjust the cable at the same time. If the clutch grip is adjusted and the gap still does not meet the requirements, the cable should be removed and adjusted by the cap on the nut. If the cable skin is cracked or deformed, a new cable should be replaced.
Overhaul of clutch slippage: clutch slippage is mainly caused by insufficient clutch grip clearance. If the gap of the grip is too small or there is no gap at all, the clutch is always in a half-clutch state, and the result will inevitably cause the clutch to slip. You can loosen the lock nut at the root of the grip, and then turn the adjustment nut left and right until the gap is appropriate. If the standard value of the gap is still not reached after adjusting the grip nut, the bracket holding the cable adjustment nut should be lifted up. After the adjustment, start the engine and check whether the gear shift is smooth, neat, whether there is friction or abnormal noise. If there is a problem, it should be further checked to find out the cause and eliminate it.
